May events


Orbital Sciences Corp is on schedule to launch Antares which will carry supplies to the International Space Station from spaceport Virginia at Wallops Island, VA.


May 3, 5 to 10 P. M.  Cinco de Mayo at The Island House restaurant in Wachapreague, VA.  Food, live music, silent auction, and door prizes.


May 12, 2012 Tour de Shore bike tour starts and ends at Onancock School. 18, 55 and 75 mile rides.


June 1, 2012, at 7:30: “Sail Away: Songs of the Water’s Edge” at historic Cokesbury Church. The mother-daughter duo will perform music celebrating the visit of the tall ship, Sultana, to Onancock. Tall ships are visiting to commemorate the War of 1812.

Corks & Forks

April 24, from 5 to 8 at Aqua Restaurant in Bay Creek Village, Cape Charles. This event features great food and wine and benefits Fragile Hearts Children's Camp.

An Evening of Gershwin

April 21, at 8 P. M. at Nandua High School. Concert pianist Thomas Pandolfi will bring Gershwin's music alive for the audience.

Historic Garden Week on the Eastern Shore of Virginia

April 28, from 10 to 5. The Eastern Shore House and Garden Tour featuring five historic homes, lovely gardens, and other Eastern Shore treasures. Advance ticket cost is $35.

Spring Festival at Maplewood Gardens

Saturday, April 14, from 11 to 4. Featuring a big selection of plants, plants, and more plants. Plus sheep, lambs, hayrides, food, and music by Poumd Net.

Literacy Council Spell Rite

Eastern Shore Literacy Council Spell Rite at Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club on April 13, starting at 5:30. Silent auction, dinner, adult spelling teams. A fun fund raiser. Tickets are $20 in advance.
Feed-a-Mind is coming up June 12-23.
Drive for Literacy is October 5.
